Salvation Army of Paducah Responds to Tornado Impact
Paducah, KY – Salvation Army trained personnel have been assessing and surveying the damage since the tornados touched down overnight. A crew from the Salvation Army immediately went into action this morning by serving snacks, drinks, and meals today to first responders helping in the efforts to restore vital services to the community and help neighbors in need. Sam’s club immediately aided the Salvation Army by providing the necessary supplies to provide this needed outreach.
With more storms and potential flooding in the forecast, the agency will continue coordinating with state and local authorities to meet human needs during these difficult and devastating series of weather events. The Salvation Army has specialized equipment, including mobile canteens, allowing meal service to start as early as today. Meals, drinks, and snacks were served to first responders and community members. The organization is committed to assessing and serving as needs are identified and the community is need of help.
“The Salvation Army has a long history of serving in disasters, from localized tornadoes or flooding to long-term responses after 9/11, Hurricane Helene, and many other significant weather events. We have always been where the need is, and there are needs today and in the coming days from these storms,” said Captain Benny Carringer, Paducah Corps Officer.
Working closely with local, county, state, and federal officials, Salvation Army personnel ensure resources and services are deployed where needed most. Pulling from a network of strategically placed equipment and a host of trained responders, The Salvation Army can respond effectively and efficiently in times of disaster.
