Charlotte, NC (September 27, 2025)–Though the impacts Tropical Depression Nine (Imelda) will have on the Carolinas remain uncertain as it develops and strengthens, one thing is certain: The Salvation Army is ready to serve.

Trained staff and volunteers in the Carolinas are on standby, ready to address the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of storm-affected communities.

“We encourage people in potentially impacted areas to review their emergency plans, be prepared and stay informed,” said Mike Patterson, Emergency Disaster Services Director of The Salvation Army of the Carolinas. “We are monitoring the situation closely and preparing to serve when needed.”

Emergency information is available at www.scemd.org (South Carolina) and www.readync.org (North Carolina).

When disasters strike, The Salvation Army mobilizes quickly to provide comprehensive relief services: hot meals, hydration stations, emotional and spiritual care, and distribution of essential supplies to survivors.

The Salvation Army has served disaster survivors for more than a century, beginning with the devastating 1900 Galveston hurricane. Since then, trained staff and volunteers have responded to every major disaster, bringing hope and help when communities need it most.
