Dallas, Texas (July 21, 2026) – Recovery operations have continued in the Texas Hill Country following catastrophic flooding that began on July 13, affecting multiple counties including Uvalde, Zavala and Kerr counties. As floodwaters have now finally receded, residents are returning to assess damage and begin cleanup efforts.
To meet growing needs across the region, The Salvation Army has increased community feeding operations in Uvalde and Zavala and other surrounding counties. Mobile feeding units are continuing to serve residents, cleanup crews and first responders in communities impacted by flooding, while feeding operations continue at evacuation shelters and community sites throughout the Hill Country.
In Uvalde and Zavala counties, The Salvation Army, in partnership with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, continues to provide hot meals. On Monday, July 20, 1,900 meals were prepared, with expectations for increased demand in the coming days. The San Antonio Canteen is also supporting the Red Cross-managed evacuation shelter at the Uvalde County Fairplex, projected to remain operational until Thursday, July 23.
Four mobile feeding units are serving Knippa, Crystal City, Uvalde and Batesville, with ongoing assessments for further service delivery. Additionally, two pallets of cleanup kits, one pallet of hygiene kits and emergency supplies were distributed to the Uvalde Command Post on Monday to assist impacted communities. Canines for Christ began providing community support on July 20 and will continue throughout the week. “We are so grateful for our partners who have helped us to provide food, practical assistance and emotional and spiritual care to those affected by this disaster,” said Kathleen Kouns, Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) incident commander.
Shelters are open in Uvalde and Batesville, accommodating limited numbers of residents. In addition, eight pallets of cleanup kits and two pallets of hygiene kits were provided to Uvalde Emergency Management for distribution.

- Knippa Volunteer Fire-Corner of Ave G and Main Street, Knippa, TX 78870 (Uvalde County)
- Civic Center – 340 E. Main Street, Uvalde, TX 78801 (Uvalde County)
- FairPlex 215 Veterans Lane, Uvalde, TX 78801 (serving shelter residents until Thursday)
- Private Road 4330, Uvalde, TX 78801 (Uvalde County)
- Ingram Volunteer Fire Department, 215 TX-39 Ingram (Kerr County)
- Roaming in West Wood Oaks and Town Creek Neighborhoods (Kerrville- Kerr County)
Since operations began, The Salvation Army has served 6,419 meals, 5,433 drinks and 4,435 snacks and made 214 emotional and spiritual care contacts. Additionally, EDS teams have distributed thousands of relief supplies to flood survivors across the affected area.
