Tropical Storm Edouard is making its way through the Gulf and expected to make landfall in Texas or Louisiana. While Edouard is not predicted to become a hurricane, torrential rain and a slow-moving storm pose a risk for flash flooding in its path.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services in both states are working with state and local emergency management to monitor the situation and prepare for potential response. Salvation Army locations in the projected path areas have trained staff and volunteers prepared to deliver a comprehensive range of services, including hot meals, hydration, emotional and spiritual care, and other needs that may arise specific to individual disasters.Â
The Salvation Army remains prepared for mobilization through local training, planning, and coordination with emergency management officials. Disaster preparation and relief efforts take place year-round to ensure readiness when need arises. Â
